I wanted to write down some of our thoughts on .com vs. .org wrt. branding and target audience. The main question in this proposal:
- What if .com were to become the customer-facing website, and .org would primarily be the "community version" of Ergo?
Benefits
- The .com version of the website can then really establish the SME side of the brand.
- The .org version of the website would "allow" a certain amount of "inappropriate behaviour" - from the business perspective side of things, some things might be inappropriate wrt. content or whatnot.
Disadvantages
I'm not aware of any disadvantages (yet).
